Hail Odin!

On this, the longest night of the year, we know that we move towards brighter times. And we welcome the light again as we look to the next year. We reflect on things of the past, and swear the New Year’s resolutions on the Hammer.

Who was on your side when the wind blew cold?
Who was on your side as the darkness came?
Who came to your aid as the black clouds gathered on the horizon?

 Hail Thor!

It is time to hail those who took up the sword to fight for our freedom and liberty.
It is time to hail those who stood amongst us as the enemy grew stronger and stronger.
It is time to raise our goblets to those who told the truth in times of oppression.
It is time to raise our goblets to those who never failed to answer to a friend in need.

It is time to drink Yule to those who fell in the battle of life. And when our time has come, and the Valkyries fly, perhaps it will be an end worthy of a song.  Perhaps it will be an end worthy of a toast, a Blot among good friends or kin. It is how we act here and now, that will determine if it will be an end worthy of remembrance, a place in the halls of Valhalla.
